The Maha Mrityunjaya Puja contains mantra which is the combination of three words that have different meaning as “Maha” means ‘Great’, “Mrityun” results in the word ‘Death’ and “Jaya” represents ‘victory’; as an combination of these three words it turns to ‘Victory over death’. Then Yama threw his noose around the Linga but Shiva placed his left foot /means he will not kill him) on him so he was unable to do anything. Markandeya also got a boon from Shiva that he will always be 16 years old.Meaning:The complete mantra follows the sequence of words as “Om Trayambakam Yajamahe. Sugandhim Pushti Vardhanam, Urvarukmiv Bandhanat, Mriturmokshaya Mamratat” – meaning “we are concentrating on our pineal eye that resides within the mid of two eyes and provides us real power to feel your presence.
