Light some incense and pour some water from the copper vessel in your palm and chant the mantra “Om Gam Ganapathaye Namaha” 21 times, sprinkle water on the idol or image of Vigneshwara, sprinkle flowers and worship Vigneshwara before placing bananas, betel leaves, gourds, pudding etc. before Vigneshwara. Vigneshwara should be worshiped 1008 times by reciting his Bija mantras. After praying to this magical figure, one should light a camphor on Vigneshwara, take aarti, offer some flowers at the foot of the idol of Vigneshwara, perform prostration, and worship Vigneshwara. After the completion of the Puja, the family members should give the sweets as an offering. The next day after the Puja, offer flowers to the idol or image of Vigneshwara and thank him for purifying the house with his presence.The day on which such the first god appeared is celebrated as Ganesha Chaturthi. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated every year in the month of Avani on the day of Wax Chaturthi. It is customary to celebrate for almost 11 days. On the 11th day, it is customary to immerse Ganesha made of clay in water bodies such as seas, rivers, and wells.
